Critique
The pictures above did well to capture the emotion with the way the colors are duller and not to bright. Also the framing used helped the viewer feel a closer connection to the subjects captured. Such as although I do not know the dogs captured I can look at the images and feel like I have known them. Each photo Ron captures have different characteristics and life experiences. Ron Van Dongen could have used more background in the plant life images to really capture their surroundings and where they preside.
Reflection
In my photo I really tried to incorporate how Ron Van Dongen used emotion through an animal. As I was taking this image of my dog I felt as though I picked up on Dongen's idea of capturing a natural subject to reflect a tiered emotion. Just as Dongen used a dull tint in color in his images to highlight the emotion so did I. Also the way he used cropping, leading lines and color scheme helps illustrate the emotion in all of his photos. Ron Van Dongen's images really inspired me to look at all elements of nature and find the emotion they reflect.
